Terms
Last updated July 26, 2026
These are the terms for using Runway, a personal cash-flow forecasting app run by ProgrammingJosh. Using it means agreeing to them. They are written to be read rather than to be survived.
What Runway is
Runway does arithmetic on figures you enter. You tell it what your accounts hold and what money moves in and out, and it carries those forward to show what each of the next thirteen months would close on. That is the whole of it.
What Runway is not
Runway is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and I am not your financial adviser. A projection is a statement about arithmetic, not a prediction about your life. It assumes the figures you gave it are right and that nothing changes, and both of those assumptions are wrong sooner or later.
Decisions you make after reading a forecast are yours. Runway is not a bank, does not hold or move money, and is not connected to any account you hold anywhere.
Your account
You need a working email address, because that is how you sign in — a link is sent to it and following the link signs you in. Anyone with access to your email can therefore sign in as you, so keep it secure. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
You are responsible for what you put into Runway, and for whether it is accurate. A forecast built on figures that are out of date is wrong in exactly the way those figures are wrong.
Early access
Runway is being built in the open. During early access it may change shape, gain and lose features, and go down without notice. Keep your own record of anything you would be upset to lose.
Early access is free while it lasts. If Runway is ever charged for, you will be told well before anything is asked of you, and you will not be charged for something you did not agree to.
Fair use
Do not:
- break into, overload or probe the service, or anyone else's account;
- scrape it, or drive it with automated clients at a volume a person could not;
- use it to do anything unlawful.
An account doing any of the above can be suspended. Where the cause is plainly a mistake, you will be told what happened and given the chance to fix it.
Availability
Runway is offered as it is, with no guarantee of uptime and no promise that it is free of faults. It is one person's software running on rented machines. It will occasionally be down.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Runway is provided without warranties of any kind, and I am not liable for any loss arising from using it — including financial loss from a decision taken after reading a forecast. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you have paid for Runway, which during early access is nothing.
Nothing here removes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be signed away.
Ending it
You can close your account whenever you like, and doing so deletes your data as described in the privacy policy. I can end your access if you break these terms, or if Runway shuts down — in which case you will get reasonable notice and time to export what you have entered.
Changes
These terms can change. If they change in substance, the date at the top changes and anyone with an account is emailed. Continuing to use Runway after that means accepting the new version.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Ohio, USA, and its courts, without affecting any protection you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
